In 1927 the factory Amedeo Cassina was founded by the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, a village in northern Italy. Meda is a village where several design manufacturers have started their existence. Meda is today the place for Italian design. Cassina produces real classic designs.
Umberto Cassina opened a studio and at the beginning focused mainly on textile sewing, therefore there was not much more to be found in the studio than sewing tables. Not much later, the production was extended to furniture such as chairs, armchairs, cabinets, tables and beds. Industrial looks, Cassina mainly focused on that and with that they distinguished themselves from the other furniture production manufacturers. From the year 1960 came the new collection of Cassina, this was called the "Cassina Maestri". The design designers of this collection were Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier. The Cassina factory produces designs by famous designers such as Mario Bellini and Rodolfo Dordoni. Another collection of Cassina is the "Cassina Contemporanei". This collection, designed by the designers Jaime Hayon, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean-Marie Massaud, Toshiyuki Kita, Vico Magistretti, Philippe Starck, Mariao Bellini, Piero Lissoni and Luca Nichetto contains modern contemporary design furniture.
