About Cassina

In 1927 the factory Amedeo Cassina was founded by the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, a village in northern Italy. Meda is a village where several design manufacturers have started their existence. Meda is today the place for Italian design. Cassina produces real classic designs.

Umberto Cassina opened a studio and at the beginning focused mainly on textile sewing, therefore there was not much more to be found in the studio than sewing tables. Not much later, the production was extended to furniture such as chairs, armchairs, cabinets, tables and beds. Industrial looks, Cassina mainly focused on that and with that they distinguished themselves from the other furniture production manufacturers. Around the fifties, Umberto Cassina opted for the production of industrial design. He found quality and good craftsmanship very important. Collections and designers Cassina

From the year 1960 came the new collection of Cassina, this was called the "Cassina Maestri". The design designers of this collection were Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier. Gerrit Rietveld, Frank Lioyd Wright, Franco Albini and Charlotte Perriand, these were worldwide well-known designers of the twentieth century. The Cassina Maestri collection has a number of beautiful designer chairs of the best materials, such as three armchairs (LC1, LC2 and LC3) and a lovely lounge chair (LC4).

The LC1, LC2 and LC3 are designed by the designer Le Corbusier. The LC1 is a chair with a movable backrest, the LC2 is almost a square chair; a sofa with armrests and the LC3 is an armchair with lots of comfort, it is also a lot wider and with a lower seat. The Cassina factory produces designs by famous designers such as Mario Bellini and Rodolfo Dordoni.
