The Segmented Table was designed by Charles and Ray Eames. This was between the years 1950 and 1964. Nowadays there is a great need for meetings in modern spaces, the Segmented Table is spacious and as a result everyone can put their stuff on it and that creates peace during complicated discussions.
Charles Eames (1907 - 1978) studied Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. His wife Ray Eames (1912 - 1988) had studied painting at the May Friend Bennet School in Millbrook, New York, New York. The couple Charles and Ray Eames complemented each other perfectly in the designs.
They won many prizes in their lives because of their good designs. They were the most important designers of the twentieth century and will never be forgotten.
Manufacturer Segmented Table
The Segmented Table is taken into production by manufacturer Vitra. Vitra produces design furniture for places where people work, such as at home, in the office or in public spaces. Here, the space is arranged as attractive as possible. The municipality of Weil am Rhein is located in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.
The factory of design furniture Vitra, also called the Vitra Campus, is in this place. In the year 1950 Rolf Fehlbaum started with the production of design furniture at Vitra Campus. Unfortunately, the Vitra Campus burned down in 1981, the factory halls were destroyed. Fortunately everything with the perfect new construction plans in order. Completely new factory halls were built by Nicholas Grimshaw. The new building took into account environment and traffic.
The Vitra Campus produces beautiful designer furniture, as well as office furniture. Designs by top designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Jean Prouvé and Georde Nelson have been taken into production.
Vitra was successful, among other things, by using sustainable raw materials, shapes and constructions during the production process. Many designs continued to be in production after the 1950s.
