Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was the designer of the Knoll Brno. He was born in 1886 in Germany, in the city of Aachen. He died in 1969 in Chigago.
Mies van der Rohe had followed the study as a contractor and his first job was with an architectural firm in Aaken. Van der Rohe worked there as a stucco designer for four years, from the year 1900 to 1904.
The designs of Mies van der Rohe differed from other designers by well thought-out and accurate use of materials such as glass, steel and natural stone. His motto was "Less is more". Poet Robert Browning wrote this statement in a poem by him in 1855.
In the year 1905 Mies van der Rohe moved to Berlin. For two years he worked in Berlin for Bruno Paul, a German architect. In the year 1907, Van der Rohe designed his first building. In addition to buildings, Mies van der Rohe was also designer of beautiful designer chairs.
